C Powers, also known as Ms Mix, is an American electronic musician and DJ currently residing in Portland, USA. Growing up in the 1990s, her sound is shaped by years of collecting breaks and Drum & Bass records in Atlanta and Chicago, as well as honing her crowd control skills in the foggy clubs of London. She has played a significant role in fostering queer spaces for dancing in Savannah, Georgia, and organizing solidarity dance nights in Portland, Oregon. Cecilia's sets and releases feature a blend of gay camp, anti-sophistication, and extended turntable techniques, reflecting her unique DJ career that has diverged from traditional club spaces. She is actively involved in anti-displacement organizing; after moving to LA in 2019, she joined the Los Angeles Tenants Union to help working-class and undocumented families combat unethical landlords and gentrification in North Hollywood. Upon relocating to Portland a year later, she co-founded Don’t Evict Portland, a tenant-led organization focused on empowering tenants and mitigating the impact of evictions. Cecilia has also explored integrating music into her organizing efforts, using audio as a tool for disruption, which influences her music production and collaborations.
