The Cambodian Space Project (CSP) was the first band to release a 45rpm vinyl in Cambodia since 1975, the year Pol Pot implemented the Year Zero policy, which devastated Cambodian culture and led to one of the worst genocides in history. The band's co-founder, who tragically died in March 2018 in a car accident in Phnom Penh, was born into war and poverty. Like the renowned Cambodian diva, she came from humble beginnings and moved to Phnom Penh in 1999 to pursue a singing career. By the time she met her co-founder, she had built a significant repertoire of Cambodian music and was eager to explore new musical avenues. The co-founder had previously traveled to Cambodia multiple times, dedicating efforts to recording and creating short films that highlighted traditional Cambodian music and Khmer ensemble instruments. With a keen interest in Cambodian Rock, the band aimed to blend the past with contemporary sounds. The Cambodian Space Project’s debut single was "Knyom Mun Sok Jet Te" ("I'm Unsatisfied") by Pan Ron.
