Cameo is a funk and electro band that was formed in 1974 in New York, USA. Originally named the New York City Players, they changed their name to The Players following a lawsuit. The band has released 17 albums from 1977 to 2000, with their most notable hit being "Word Up," released in 1986. In the 2000s, Cameo's bassist Aaron Mills began collaborating with other artists.
