Julian "Cannonball" Adderley was an American jazz saxophonist, composer, bandleader, and producer, born on September 15, 1928, in Tampa, Florida. He was the brother of jazz cornet/trumpet player and the uncle of jazz keyboardist. Known for his lively attitude towards life, Adderley was a prolific musician, featuring on hundreds of releases throughout his career. He worked with various jazz groups and recorded his own works under different ensembles. Adderley passed away on August 8, 1975, in Gary, Indiana, at the age of 46.
