Carlo Gesualdo was an Italian Renaissance composer and the Prince of Venosa as well as the Count of Conza. He was born on March 8, 1566, in Venosa, which was part of the Kingdom of Naples (now in the Potenza province of the Basilicata region, Italy). He passed away on September 8, 1613, in Gesualdo, his family's place of origin, located in the Avellino province of the Campania region, Italy.
