Carlos Gardel was a renowned Uruguayan-born Argentine Tango singer, composer, and actor, celebrated as the greatest icon of Tango. He was born on December 11, 1890, in Tacuarembo, Uruguay, and tragically died in a plane accident on June 24, 1935, in Medellin, Colombia, along with his guitarists. Gardel's impressive musical legacy includes a total of 957 recordings of 792 different songs. For his original compositions, he would write the arrangements using a guitar, while a friend contributed the lyrics.
