Carmelo Bernaola (16 July 1929 – 5 June 2002) was a Spanish composer and clarinetist from Ochandio, Vizcaya, in the Basque Country. A member of the Generation of '51, he became one of the most influential classical composers in the Spanish musical scene during the second half of the 20th century. Bernaola was also a clarinetist and is credited under the names "Carmelo Alonso Bernaola" and "Carmelo A. Bernaola." He composed popular soundtracks and tunes, including the "Athletic Club" football hymn in Basque (Athleticen ereserkia, 1982) and worked for RTVE on projects such as "El pícaro" (1974), "La clave" (1976), and "Verano azul" (1981). Throughout his career, he composed around 82 soundtracks, including "Mambrú se fue a la guerra" (1986), "Espérame en el cielo" (1988), and "Pasodoble" (1988).
