Carmen Rivero was a renowned Mexican cumbia singer and band leader, born in the 1960s. She passed away on August 9, 2011, in Mexico City. Alongside her husband Manuel Díaz, known as "Manzanita," she played a pivotal role in revolutionizing tropical music in Mexico by introducing Colombian cumbia to the scene. In the 1980s, she was recognized in the Guinness Book of Records as one of the three greatest musical phenomena of recent times, sharing this honor with Sarita Montiel for "El Último Cuplé" and Michael Jackson for "Thriller," alongside her own hit "La Pollera Colorá."
