Carole Bayer Sager is an American lyricist, songwriter, singer, painter, and author, born on March 8, 1947, in Manhattan, New York City, New York, USA. She was married to Andrew L. Sager from 1970 until their divorce in 1978, and later married again on April 3, 1982, before divorcing in 1991. Many of Sager's early songs were co-written with her second husband, composer Burt Bacharach. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with numerous artists, including notable names in the music industry. Sager won the Academy Award for Best Song in 1981 for "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)," the theme song from the film Arthur, sharing the award with co-writers. In 1987, she received the Grammy Award for Song of the Year for "That's What Friends Are For," which she co-wrote with Bacharach. Sager was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987.
