Casimir Letang, known by the nickname Kazo, was a Guadeloupean born on April 28, 1935, in Pointe-à-Pitre, where he developed a passion for music and poetry during his childhood. He was a multifaceted artist, serving as a poet, singer, songwriter, and radio host on Radio Guadeloupe for approximately thirty years. A pioneer in his field, Letang was one of the first to promote Gwoka music and to use Creole on public radio during the 1960s. He passed away in 1996.
