Cassandra Wilson is an American jazz musician, vocalist, songwriter, and producer hailing from Jackson, Mississippi. Born on December 4, 1955, she has received critical acclaim for her work, winning the Grammy Award for Best Jazz Vocal Performance for her album "New Moon Daughter" in 1996, and for Best Jazz Vocal Album for "Loverly" in 2009. She was married from 2000 to 2003.
