Cathal McConnell and Robin Morton were prominent figures in the Irish folk music scene. Born on December 24, 1939, in Portadown, County Armagh, Northern Ireland, Morton passed away on October 1, 2021. In 1967, he co-founded a folk band with Tommy Gunn and Cathal McConnell. Morton left the band in 1979 after establishing a folk label and moved to Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1970 to pursue a PhD at Edinburgh University, although he did not complete it. In 1980, he became the manager of a Scottish folk group, continuing to manage and release material by the band until their apparent end in 2017. In the 1980s, Morton set up his own label and also established Kinmore Publishing, which produces music and publishes books and sheet music. He was married, although the details of his spouse are not mentioned.
