Cecilia Barraza, born on November 5, 1952, in Lima, Peru, is a renowned singer and a foundational figure in contemporary folk music. Her artistic journey began in April 1971 when she participated in the television program "Trampoline to the Fama," where she won the title of best interpreter for her rendition of Alicia Maguiña's song "Everything Speaks to Me of You." It was during this contest that she caught the attention of Chabuca Granda, who was captivated by her sweet voice and invited her to Mexico for an artistic tour with the group Peru Negro. This opportunity marked the beginning of her rapid rise to prominence as one of the great figures in Peruvian music.
