Celtic Frost was a metal band formed in June 1984 in Zürich, Switzerland, by Tom G. Warrior (also known as Thomas G. Fischer) and Martin Eric Ain. The band evolved from its early proto-black metal sound in "Morbid Tales" to incorporate classical influences in "To Mega Therion," and later ventured into avant-garde territory with "Into The Pandemonium." In 1988, a new lineup was introduced for the album "Cold Lake," which faced criticism for its glam metal style. This shift significantly impacted the band's credibility, with blame directed at guitarist Oliver Amberg, who contributed much of the album's material. Afterward, Ain returned for "Vanity/Nemesis" in 1990, but the group disbanded shortly thereafter. In the early 2000s, Warrior and Ain reformed the band with guitarist Erol Unala and drummer Franco Sesa. They revived the Prowling Death imprint, initially used for Hellhammer demos, to release new recordings, starting with 2006's "Monotheist." Unala left shortly after the album's release. In April 2008, Fischer announced his departure from Celtic Frost, citing irreconcilable personal issues within the band. However, he maintained that his friendship with Ain remained intact.
