Ceramic Hello is a musical project formed by Brett Wickens after his departure from the band Spoons. Initially, Wickens created a duo called "The Jovial Foresters," which performed live once and produced a few unreleased songs in a progressive rock style. Subsequently, Wickens shifted his focus to recording a proper album featuring his minimalist and techno material. He enlisted Humphreys to compose short instrumental "bridges" between his longer tracks. The resulting album, titled "The Absence of a Canary," was produced in a limited run of 1,000 copies.
