The Chandlers were a 1960s soul group hailing from Columbus, Ohio, known for their doo-wop singing style. The group formed while its members were students at Eastmoor High School. Notable members included Kevin Brown and Eric Younger. In 1967, Jeff Smith was brought on board by Musicol to establish a record label called Col-Soul. The Chandlers collaborated with Smith on a couple of his songs, recording at Musicol with musicians who supported their live performances, as well as members of the Soul Rockers. They released the ballad "I Need Your Love" and the uptempo track "Your Love Makes Me Lonely," both of which echoed the sound of R&B groups like the Drifters, particularly the latter's resemblance to the Drifters' hit "On Broadway." The record achieved local success, selling a few thousand copies, but it remained the only release from Col-Soul. In 1969, Smith partnered with two others to create Tribro Productions, bringing the Chandlers back to Musicol to record two more songs, including the uptempo hit "Your Love Keeps Drawing Me Closer." This release was issued under the one-off label Bleu Rose and featured a more contemporary sound. The Chandlers continued for a while longer before disbanding.
