Charles Kynard was an American soul jazz organist and electric bass player, born on February 20, 1933, in St. Louis, Missouri. He passed away on July 8, 1979, in Los Angeles, California. Throughout his career, Kynard collaborated in the studio with notable artists such as Les McCann, Houston Person, Grant Green, Idris Muhammad, Buddy Collette, Sonny Stitt, and Blue Mitchell.
