Charles Stepney was an American vibraphonist, pianist, arranger, producer, and songwriter, renowned for his production work with various artists and releases on Chess / Cadet. He collaborated and recorded with notable musicians such as Ramsey Lewis, Eddie Harris, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Phil Upchurch, Terry Callier, The Dells, The Emotions, and many others. Born on March 26, 1931, in Chicago, Illinois, he passed away on May 17, 1976, in Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 45 due to heart failure.
