Charles Wright, born in 1940 in Clarksdale, Mississippi, is a multifaceted musician known for his roles as a singer, pianist, guitarist, and songwriter. He is the leader of the successful Watts 103rd Street Rhythm Band, an eight-member group formed from the Watts area in Los Angeles. Wright's early musical experiences include performing in "strip joints" playing Rock and Roll, jamming with the renowned Stan Kenton Band, and touring with The Tab Smith Orchestra, which likely influenced his distinctive lyrical sound.
