Charlies is a Finnish heavy psych rock group that originated in Lahti in 1966. The band formed from the remnants of a beat band called Finnhawkers and initially operated as a power trio, drawing inspiration from groups like Cream and the Jimi Hendrix Experience. In early 1969, they relocated to Helsinki and released their only single that spring. By the end of summer 1969, Charlies expanded into a quartet and recorded their first full album, "Musiikkia Elokuvasta Julisteiden Liimaajat," which was released in January 1970 as a soundtrack for an underground film by Tuomo-Juhani Vuorenmaa. The band gained recognition in August 1970 when they performed at Ruisrock, Finland's first rock festival, alongside acts like Colosseum, Family, Argent, and Tasavallan Presidentti. Later that year, they self-released their second album, "Buttocks," which faced rejection from several labels for being deemed non-commercial. After extensive performances, Charlies disbanded in July 1971. The remaining members continued to play from 1971 to 1974 but without significant success, leading to the definitive end of the band in late 1974. In 1997, Charlies made a comeback, performing occasionally. The last-known line-up includes Kari "Pitkä" Lehtinen, Ari "Kusti" Ahlgrén, Vesa "Wellu" Lehtinen
