Cheap Trick is a renowned power-pop band formed in Rockford, Illinois, in 1974. They gained prominence with their self-titled debut album, which showcased their distinctive sound that blends the catchiness of The Beatles with the speed and energy of punk rock. The Los Angeles Times noted that Cheap Trick gained fame by transforming the Beatlesque style into something shinier, harder, and more American. The band is often referred to in the Japanese press as the "American Beatles." Cheap Trick is best known for their hits "Surrender," "I Want You To Want Me," "Dream Police," and "The Flame." They also covered Big Star's "In The Street" for the American sitcom "That '70s Show," starting from season 2, and performed the theme tune for "The Colbert Report." Despite their long career, the band's lineup has remained relatively stable. The Illinois State Senate has even declared April 1st as "Cheap Trick Day." They were also ranked 25th in "VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock." The current lineup includes Robin Zander (lead vocals, rhythm guitar, piano), Rick Nielsen (lead guitar, backing vocals), Tom Petersson (electric bass, backing vocals), and Daxx Nielsen (drums, percussion, touring since 2010). Former members include Bun E. Carlos (drums, percussion, 1974–2010), Randy Hogan (lead vocals, 1974), Pete Comita (
