Cheb Runner is the latest project by belgo-Moroccan producer Cheb Runner, known for its experimental and mature sound, which marks a departure from his previous work with Gan Gah. The name "Cheb," meaning "young boy" in Arabic, is traditionally associated with the new generation of Raï singers, such as Cheb Hasni, Cheb Mami, and Cheb Khaled. This project symbolizes the emergence of a new generation that aims to create something innovative from traditional roots. The reference to the Ridley Scott film "Blade Runner" highlights the contrast between Cheb's origins in a Moroccan village in the Agadir region and the contemporary beats influenced by the club scenes of industrial cities like Berlin, Detroit, and Molenbeek/Brussels. Cheb Runner invites listeners on a journey through space and time, blending ancient rhythms to inspire future generations.
