Chemical People was a melodic pop punk band formed in 1986 in Beverly Hills. They recorded for nearly two decades on a small Southern California record label, as well as their own. The band's lyrics often revolved around themes of pornography, food, and fun, with little regard for political correctness. Over the years, Chemical People evolved, moving away from their earlier focus on topics like sex, donuts, and superheroes. In August 1997, they released their fifth album, 'Arpeggio Motorcade,' which followed their 1992 self-titled album. This album featured a more polished sound, incorporating saxophone, keyboards, and various guest musicians, while still maintaining the pop/punk style for which Cruz Records is known. Eventually, the band members parted ways to pursue their own interests, leaving behind a significant legacy in punk rock history. Ed Urlik, a founding member, was also part of the punk band Down By Law.
