Cheryl Thompson was an American singer, songwriter, and beauty pageant winner born on April 3, 1944, in Jacksonville, Florida. She passed away on June 25, 2002, at the age of 58 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Thompson was married to a member of the Mary Kaye Trio and was crowned Miss Las Vegas and Miss Nevada in 1963. She recorded six singles with Decca Records, including “Black Night,” “Mansion of Tears,” “The Third Person,” “Wall to Wall Heartaches,” “Something to Think About,” and “Top Twenty,” as well as one single with Vee Jay titled “Don’t Walk Away.” At the age of 18, she moved to Las Vegas to pursue a singing career but instead found work as a showgirl at the Sahara Hotel. Her beauty helped her secure the Miss Nevada title in 1963. Thompson wrote the song "The Third Person," which was nominated for a Grammy. After her music career, she retired from singing to assist her husband in running their real estate company.
