Chester Thompson (a.k.a. Chester D. Thompson) is a drummer and percussionist born on December 11, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. He has been active in the music industry since the 1970s, touring and recording with various artists. His collaborations include work with bands and musicians from 1971 to 2000, including notable acts such as (1971–1973), (1973–1975), (1975–1976), (1976–1992, 2007 as tour drummer), (1978, 1995), (1979), (1980), (1982/83, 1985, 1990, 1999, 2004/05, 2010 as tour drummer), Santana (1984), (1989), (1992–1995), (1996), (1997), (1997), and (2000), as well as (2017) among many others. In addition to his performing career, Thompson gives drum lessons at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, conducts clinics, and directs a jazz ensemble. He has lived in Los Angeles, CA, and London, UK, but currently resides in Nashville, TN.
