Chet Baker was an American jazz trumpeter, singer, composer, and artist born on December 23, 1929, in Yale, Oklahoma, USA. He began his career in the early 1950s, collaborating with various musicians. However, his drug addiction significantly impacted his career, leading to arrests for narcotics. From 1957 onward, Baker experienced several comebacks, working with notable musicians, including Gerry Mulligan, with whom he had previously recorded. Despite suffering the loss of his teeth, Baker managed to recover and continued to record frequently, particularly in live settings, for numerous labels, ranging from small groups to large ensembles. In the 1980s, he spent much of his time recording in Europe until his death on May 13, 1988, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, at the age of 58.
