Cheyne is a female R&B singer who gained recognition as a teenager when her song "Call Me Mr. Telephone (Answering Service)" reached number one on the U.S. Hot Dance Club Play chart in 1985. She also contributed to the "Weird Science" soundtrack with the track "Private Joy." Later, she moved to England, where she became a backing singer for The Pogues and subsequently formed her own country group, the Cheyne Pride Band.
