Chihei Hatakeyama is a musician and organizer born in 1978, currently residing in the outskirts of Tokyo. He has been active in the music scene for years, performing under his own name and as part of the electroacoustic duo Opitope, alongside Tomoyoshi Date. Hatakeyama's musical journey began in his teenage years, playing guitar in rock-oriented bands, before transitioning to using a laptop as his primary platform. He creates memory-evoking soundscapes by layering various recorded materials from acoustic instruments, including guitars, vibraphone, and piano, which he processes multiple times through his laptop. His debut album, Minima Moralia, was released in early 2006 by the Chicago-based label Kranky.
