Chika Asamoto is a Japanese saxophonist, composer, and producer born in 1960. She studied at Nanzan College before transferring to Berklee College of Music in Boston, where she majored in Composition and Saxophone. Influenced by free jazz and George Russell’s Lydian Chromatic Concept, she returned to Tokyo in 1982 and released her debut solo album on Nippon Columbia. Between 1982 and 1994, she released five albums on major Japanese labels. Her work spans film, TV, and fashion media. In 1999, she founded A.M.S Records, where she serves as president and executive producer. She was previously married.
