Joseph Christoffer Columbus Morris, known as Crazy Chris Columbo, was an American jazz drummer born on June 17, 1902, in Greenville, North Carolina. He passed away on August 20, 2002, in New Jersey. Columbo began his professional career in 1921 with Fletcher Henderson and became a prominent figure in Atlantic City's music scene, playing at various nightclubs from the 1920s until the 1960s. He led the Club Harlem orchestra for 34 years until the club closed in 1978, after which his band performed at nearly every casino hotel in Atlantic City, including regular gigs at the Showboat until a stroke in 1993 partially paralyzed him. Throughout his career, Columbo collaborated with renowned artists such as Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Louis Jordan, Louis Armstrong, and Ella Fitzgerald. He was also a father to a drummer.
