Chris Connor was an American jazz vocalist born on November 8, 1927, in Kansas City, Missouri. She made her first major appearance at the end of the 1940s with a vocal group called The Snowflakes. After a period with a jazz group, she achieved significant success with a band in the early 1950s. By the mid-1950s, she had established herself as a solo artist and became the best-selling artist for her record label before making history as the first jazz singer to sign with another label. Chris Connor passed away on August 29, 2009, in Toms River, New Jersey.
