Chris McGregor was a South African jazz pianist, composer, and bandleader, known for his work with the Blue Notes and Brotherhood of Breath. He was born on December 24, 1936, in Umtata (or Somerset West), South Africa, as the son of a Scottish missionary. McGregor lived in exile from South Africa starting in 1963 and passed away on May 26, 1990, in Ager, France.
