Chris Spedding, born Christopher John Spedding on June 17, 1944, in Staveley, Derbyshire, England, is a renowned guitarist known for his extensive career spanning over 50 years. Initially named Peter Robinson, he was adopted by Muriel and Jack Spedding. Spedding gained prominence as one of the most sought-after session guitarists in England by the early 1970s, collaborating with notable artists such as Jack Bruce, Pete Brown, Roxy Music, Elton John, and John Cale. He is particularly recognized for his hit single "Motorbiking," released in 1975. In addition to his session work, Spedding has produced various albums and singles, including the first recordings of the Sex Pistols in May 1976. He has also been a member of several rock bands, including The Battered Ornaments, Frank Ricotti Quartet, King Mob, Mike Batt and Friends, Necessaries, Nucleus, Ricky Norton, The Sharks, Trigger, and the Wombles.
