Chuck Wiley, born Charles Estel Wiley on December 24, 1937, in Cattlesburg, Kentucky, was a notable figure in the original 1950s rock and roll scene. Between 1957 and 1959, he recorded approximately twenty songs, releasing six singles across four different labels, including Spangle, United Artists, Jax, and MusiCenter. In Evansville, Indiana, he adopted the name Johnny K. and signed with Epic Records in 1969. During his career, he performed alongside prominent artists such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Charlie Rich, and BJ Thomas, and opened for Jimi Hendrix, who passed away the following year. While he recorded at least 25 songs for Epic, only three singles were released between 1969 and 1971, including remakes of "I Love You So Much" and "Right By My Side," credited to Johnny K. Wiley.
