Clarence Mann was a talented vocalist from Alabama, known for his impressive contributions to southern soul music during the 70s and 80s. He achieved recognition both as a solo artist and as the lead singer of the True Image group. Despite his remarkable abilities, he never quite received the big break he deserved. Mann's recordings featured a softer sound with richer orchestration compared to the vocalists of the 60s, yet his gruff tones, impeccable timing, and gospel-influenced phrasing firmly placed him in the grand tradition of soul music. Throughout his career, he collaborated extensively with producer James Terry.
