Claude Ciari is a French-born Japanese guitarist, composer, and actor, born on February 11, 1944, in Nice, France, to an Italian father and a Romanian mother. He began playing guitar at the age of eleven and joined a rock group as lead guitarist when he was sixteen, earning the title of best instrumental band in France. In 1964, he left the group to record an album featuring the hit rhumba tune “La Playa,” which achieved success in 45 countries and sold several million records. This marked the beginning of an incredible career. Ciari lived in France until 1974, after which he moved to Tahiti. He frequently performed in Japan, where he gained citizenship in 1985. Over his career, Ciari has released more than fifty records, composed music for TV dramas and soundtracks, and made appearances on TV and radio shows.
