Clawfinger is a metal band formed in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1989 by four co-workers at the Rosenlund hospital: Jocke Skog (programming, vocals), Zak Tell (vocals), Erlend Ottem (guitar), and Bård Torstensen (guitar). They are recognized as pioneers in their genre, gaining international acclaim for their powerful alternative rock sound. Their debut single, "Nigger," released in 1993, sparked controversy despite its anti-racist message. The band was often compared to American groups like Rage Against The Machine, known for their political activism and diverse musical styles. Clawfinger's debut album, Deaf Dumb Blind, showcased their blend of funk and jazz influences and was promoted in the USA through tours with Anthrax and Alice In Chains. The band also collaborated with Swedish rappers Just D on a joint EP. In 1995, they expanded to a six-piece with the addition of André Skaug (bass) and Ottar Vigerstøl (drums), embarking on their "Back To The Basics" European tour. After a break, they worked on their self-titled third album, featuring session drummer Henka Johansson, who later joined the band. Their fourth album, A Whole Lot Of Nothing, was released in 2001, followed by Zeros & Heroes in 2003. In the fall of 2019, Clawfinger returned to the road with an extensive playlist from their earlier years
