Cliff Richard, born on October 14, 1940, in Lucknow, India to British parents, is Britain's most successful home-grown pop star. He has achieved remarkable success with over 130 singles, albums, and EPs making the UK Top 20, more than any other artist. He holds the record for having 14 UK number one singles, or 18 depending on the counting methodology, and is the only act to appear in the UK singles charts across all of its first six decades (1950s–2000s). Richard first gained fame in 1958 with his debut disc "Move It," a rock 'n' roll number reminiscent of Elvis Presley. His musical style soon evolved into a series of inoffensive, largely middle-of-the-road recordings, complemented by his squeaky clean, teen-heart-throb image in a variety of exuberant film musicals, including "The Young Ones" (1962) and "Summer Holiday" (1963). In the late 1970s, he reinvented himself as a mildly-heavy rocker, achieving US recognition with "Devil Woman," which reached the top ten. His biggest-selling single worldwide, "We Don't Talk Anymore," was released in 1979, followed by more hits.
