Clifford Thornton was an American trumpeter and cornetist, born on September 6, 1936. He passed away on November 25, 1989. Thornton's musical career began in the mid-1950s when he worked with various artists from 1956 to 1957. In the early 1960s, he performed and recorded with notable musicians. From 1963 to 1967, he collaborated with other artists and recorded around 1964. In 1967, he formed the New Arts Ensemble and performed and recorded in Paris in 1969 with various groups, including his own band, continuing this work until 1970. In 1976, he became an educational counselor at the African American Institute, an organization supported by UNESCO.
