Clifton Chenier was an American/Creole zydeco accordionist, singer, and songwriter, born on June 25, 1925, in Opelousas, Louisiana. He won a Grammy Award for Best Ethnic or Traditional Folk Recording in 1983 for his works "I'm Here" and "Bogalusa Boogie," the latter of which was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 2011. Chenier was posthumously inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 1989. He passed away on December 12, 1987, in Lafayette, Louisiana.
