Club Nouveau is an American synth-soul group that gained popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s. The group was formed in Sacramento, California, in 1986, following the breakup of a previous act. In 1987, Club Nouveau was nominated for a Grammy for Best R&B Performance. Early members Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy left after the debut album to become a successful production and songwriting team in the late 1980s soul and R&B scenes.
