**Cold Sun Bio** Cold Sun was a legendary yet obscure psychedelic progressive band based in Austin, Texas, active for a brief period around 1970. The group was formed by Bill Miller, who played autoharps and provided vocals. A fan of the 13th Floor Elevators, Miller initially formed a psychedelic rock band called Couldron with Tom McGarrigle in 1968, which later changed its name to Amethyst. They performed at the LL Club, a psychedelic venue in Austin. In 1969, Amethyst expanded their lineup by recruiting Mike Waugh on bass, who brought in drummer John Ike Walton, an early member of the Elevators. The band signed with the independent record label Sonobeat, at which point they changed their name to Cold Sun. They recorded their sole album, 'Dark Shadows,' in 1970 with a new drummer, Hugh Patton, replacing Walton. Unfortunately, Cold Sun was unable to release the album due to Sonobeat's bankruptcy, and the band disbanded in 1973. The members of Cold Sun included: - Billy Miller - Lead Vocals, Autoharp, Songwriting - Tom McGarrigle - Lead Guitar, Backing Vocals - Mike Waugh - Bass, Backing Vocals - Hugh Patton - Drums
