Colosseum is a UK band that emerged as one of the pivotal progressive groups in the late 1960s. Founded in 1968 by members on drums, tenor sax, and bass, the lineup later expanded to include keyboards, guitar, vocals, and a new bassist who replaced Tony Reeves. The band released three studio albums: "Those Who Are About To Die Salute You," "Valentyne Suite" (both in 1969), and "Daughter Of Time" (1970). Their music is a progressive blend of rock, jazz, and blues, characterized by extensive solos and interplay. In 1971, they released the highly acclaimed live album "Colosseum Live." After disbanding in 1971, most members went on to form or join other groups, including Clem Clempson, Chris Farlowe, Dave Greenslade (who reunited with Tony Reeves), and a band founded by Jon Hiseman. Colosseum reunited in 1994 and remains active to this day.
