Ramón “Moncho” Vargas is a renowned Colombian accordionist born in San Jacinto, Bolívar Department. He has had a significant influence on the sabanera interpretation of traditional vallenato rhythms. He is famously referred to as “Compadre Ramón” in the song “Hamaca Grande” by the celebrated Colombian composer Adolfo Pacheco. Moncho Vargas has performed successfully with Alfredo Gutiérrez's musical ensemble and also with Los Hermanos López, sharing the accordion duties with the famous Emilianito Zuleta Díaz.
