**Conjunto Rumbavana Bio** Conjunto Rumbavana is a Cuban band founded in 1955 by Ricardo Ferro, a bongo player. The band’s repertoire includes popular music styles such as bolero, guaracha, chachachá, son montuno, conga, and danzón. The band featured various musicians throughout its history. The piano was played by Joséito González, who joined in the mid-60s, while the original pianist was nicknamed El Butti. Vocals were initially provided by Fernando Gonzalez, a bolerist who was ousted from the group in the early 80s when his family emigrated to the United States. He was unable to leave Cuba for international tours. Fernando had previously worked with Ernesto Duarte Brito and his Orchestra in the mid to late 50s and was known for his excellent voice timbre as a "cuban sonero of the old school." Other notable vocalists included Guido Soto, who had ties to Cuban counterintelligence, Onelio Pérez, Oreste Macías "el Guapachoso," and later Ricardito Garcia, a former member of Ritmo Oriental who joined in the late 70s. The band’s bass was played by Silvio Vergara "Cuco." There were several guitar players throughout its existence, with Maracaibo and Richard (last name unavailable) being the most notable.
