Consuelo Velázquez (August 21, 1916 - January 22, 2005) was a Mexican concert pianist, songwriter, and recording artist, born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. She is best known as the songwriter and lyricist of many Latin standard songs, with her most notable work being the enduring standard "Bésame Mucho," which emerged in the 1940s. There are some sources that list her birth date as August 29, 1924.
