Consuelo Velázquez (August 21, 1916 - January 22, 2005) was a Mexican concert pianist, songwriter, and recording artist. Born in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, she became renowned for her contributions to music, particularly as the songwriter and lyricist of many Latin standard songs. Her most famous work is the enduring standard "Bésame Mucho," which originated in the 1940s. There are some discrepancies regarding her birth date, with some sources listing it as August 29, 1924. Velázquez passed away in Mexico City, Mexico.
