Cookie & the Cupcakes is an American swamp pop band from Louisiana, originally formed in the early 1950s as "". The band made its first recording in 1955 with "Cindy Lou" b/w "Such As Love". By 1956, Thierry had become the lead singer, and the band was renamed to "Cookie and the Cupcakes". They recorded their most famous song, "Mathilda", in 1958, which is regarded as the unofficial anthem of swamp pop. In the mid-1960s, Thierry unexpectedly moved to California, leaving the band. He was replaced by , but due to a decline in the popularity of swamp pop, the band disbanded in the early 1970s. In 1992, pianist found Thierry in Los Angeles and persuaded him to return to Louisiana. The band reunited with Thierry, Jacobs, Dunaway, and guitarist in the lineup. Thierry passed away in 1997, after which the band was led by Lil' Alfred until his death in 2006.
