Cornel Campbell, born on November 23, 1945, in Kingston, Jamaica, began his music career in the early 1960s. In 1966, he formed a duet called The Bell Stars with George, and later collaborated with Aaron Davis to create The Sensations, where they recorded ska and rocksteady tracks for various labels. After leaving The Sensations, Cornel briefly joined another group (without recording with them) before establishing his own band, which later became known as The Eternals. They recorded for several labels before disbanding in 1971. From 1972 to 1978, Cornel recorded as a solo artist and subsequently joined the next version of The Eternals. Cornel is known for his falsetto singing style and made a significant impact as a lovers rock singer, although he also recorded a number of rasta hits in the mid-70s. Some of his notable songs include 'Stars' and 'Queen of the Minstrels' (with The Eternals) for Studio One in the late 60s, 'Natty Dread Inna Greenwich Village', 'The Duke Of Earl', and 'Gorgon' for various labels, as well as 'Everyday Is Like A Holiday' and 'Those Guys' (with The Sensations). His career slowed in the 1980s but experienced a revival in the 1990s. Cornel is the brother of another musician from the same era and Robert Campbell
