Corrosive Crowd was formed in 1978 by Dr. Ron Styler, who played guitar and synth, and Ernesto Arnold, also known as AH. Nestini, after the breakup of the free jazz band Urland, which included Carlos Perón and Boris Blank. They were joined by Marco Ritter, also known as Marco Phone, who played bass and was part of the original formation of Nasal Boys. In 1979, young singer Isa Nogara joined the group. Corrosive Crowd made their first appearance on August 29, 1980, at the Monster Concert in Volkshaus Zurich. In 1981, Mike Food, who played vocals, synth, and tenor sax, became a member. The trio of Mike, Marco, and Isa lived together at Häringerstrasse 19 on the edge of Niederdorf, in a building that also housed the red light district. In their practice room, they recorded four songs: "Insektenliebe," "Sad Or Mad," "Masokism," and "What Do You Want To Me" on a 4-track recorder. They produced a double single in a limited edition of around 300 copies, distributing part of it themselves under their own label, C.C. Records, while some was also distributed by Jamming. The singles were sealed in stiff, transparent PVC film, featuring the band's logo, and the packaging could be used as a hinged hanging display cover.
